Can we talk about how Josh was literally vaping everywhere idk or was his name Simon idk idk but the people in the cult paid no attention at all so what was the point. This wasnt made for everyone but I personally enjoyed it. My parents almost got pulled into a cult like last year, we just joke about it but reality is it couldve been really scary. they were just looking for a new church and only went to one session? idk i forget what church things are called lol but by the end of it they were rlly freaked out cuz although they were soso nice something just seemed really off. lucky nothing happened to them. It gets a lot worse as it goes on and on. And it's a slug fest like oh my god did they race slugs to see which movies were gonna get more menacing over there at A24 either this or the lighthouse. A showdown of art house films that nobody cares and will care about forever. They're horror movies are starting to feel like viceland channel movies. A24 started off in a good direction but has lost me into a few of it's steps and I hope it recollects itself in some truly terrifying and shock valued efforts.

Just plain old awful and boring. I've never written a review but there's never been a movie that's made me want to. I never saw Hereditary but from the looks of this movie, I don't need to and that's sad. It isn't really bad at first BUT. Psychologically-fragile American college student Dani attends a celebratory midsommar festival in northern Sweden with her graduate student boyfriend, Christian, and his cohorts Josh and Mark. They are invited by Pelle, an exchange student who was raised in an isolated commune there; he explains the celebration occurs only once every ninety years. The festivities are initially harmless, but soon ramp up to disturbing proportions.

I also noticed at the beginning of the movie when Dani was laying on either the couch or her bed that there was a huge painting of a bear above her. I just thought that was crazy since her boyfriend was put into a bear at the end. As a Swede, it's so funny to see that they turned a happy Swedish tradition into some cult shit lol. I think the trip was very realistic I felt so sad for her in that moment, I've been there before and it's so terrifying. Dani's sister and parents (who are probably at the end of the life cycle and notice it's also winter) might have been killed by the cult or Pelle, nobody would suspect a thing because of her sister's illness. Also Pelle is very kind and seems to like Dani from the beginning, and the Welcome home greet only to Dani and not others... It's like Pelle had planned this for a long time.

I wanted everybody to just die after the pubic hair scene... Yeah no this was a one time watch. interesting and disturbing, but like taking psychedelic drugs, this will take days to fully recover from. not a good movie, but truly art, and as such, worthy of respect. Midsommar is pronounced similar to midsummer with the emphasis being on the mid-SOM-mar, not midsom-MAR. The same guy that said we're so happy to have you only hugs dani and says welcome home. Great, two of my favorite reviewers have two polar opposite opinions on a movie, both of which are usually pretty critical in their reviews. I may have to watch this movie myself to get a clearer idea. Editor: How much color and brightness you want? Director : Yes. I want to know if Dani stays with the cult. Did she loose her mind? Did she accept their ways and become apart of the family? Did she come to her senses and want to leave? I want these answers 😂.

I just finished watching this and found none of it hilarious. It's Swedish midsommar today. I think the whole story was highly compelling, and from my point of view, it's a masterpiece, the story never felt like a drag, everything makes sense when u put urself into Dani's perspective, and everything wins a deep meaning. This movie hit me like a ton of bricks. Yas! Yas! Bursting with tiny details, like the symbol of Paimon, top of screen, at 4:00. Ill be seeing it opening night 7/2/19. I wish you werent pronouncing it “Mid-Soe-marr”. Its pronounced more like midsummer, but with the o sound and a short a.

Yall noticed that Dani's eyes changed color basically every time someone died. Saw midsommar today and a girl in the row in front of me started vomiting during that face bashing scene. so accurate I guess. “And then she turns into a flower pot” LMFAO.
